Running

The entire Trail is open for running. Sections between Glenridge Drive and Central City Park are concrete and lit. The section between the Clinton Street gate and the Ocmulgee National Monument Visitor’s Center is asphalt. Many trails within the monument are grass, some are concrete, and some are gravel and are only accessible from 9am to 5pm each day. The section of trail along the levee beside Central City Park is grass and is unlit. A crush-n-run trail is planned and construction will soon begin down the levee in Central City Park this fall. Amerson Water Works Park also houses 180+ acres of natural, unpaved trails - perfect for runners and joggers. AWWP is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 9-5.

Rollerblading

Biking

Biking is one of the most popular activities on the Trail. The section of trail between Glenridge Drive and Central City Park is all paved and lit and accommodates biking. You can also continue along the unpaved, unlit levee beside Central City Park. In addition, you can ride from Gateway Park up Coliseum Drive to Clinton Street and access the Ocmulgee National Monument from 9am to 5pm each day. Not all trails within the Monument are open to biking, so please obey park signage. Though bikes are not allowed at the Playground at Amerson Water Works Park, the trails throughout the Park offer great mountainbiking experiences. Also consider a tour through Macon’s beautiful downtown.
