Nimrod Long and Associates is a Landscape Architecture and Land Planning firm founded by Nimrod Long in 1978. The firm took over primary master planning and design role for the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail in 2001. Nimrod Long and Associates has a notable reputation for turning plans into built projects on budget. Their work on the trail has been no exception: they worked quickly to collect ideas from all constituents and shaped these ideas so that they could be bid and constructed.  Nimrod Long and Associates use a multidisciplinary approach to urban projects like the Trail and assembled a team of consultants including Cranston, Robertson and Whitehurst of Augusta, Georgia for engineering, CRS Engineering of Birmingham, Alabama for electrical consulting, and Russell Claxton Architects of Macon, Georgia for architecture.  The overall philosophy for the trail design is to create a system that connects to downtown and existing parks, and rebuilds Macon's historic connection to the waterfront and create a positive catalyst for future development along the river.
